What kind of animal is this thing...?

I would be a crepuscular small wild cat in South America and Oceania.

I would be a hypercarnivore, feeding mostly on rodents and birds, and I would enjoy occasionally chewing on scavenged bones for phosphorus.

I would have a small litter each year with some brief parental care.

My mate and I are monogamous, but we act in separate territories most of the year.

Dusk and dawn I would wade through low-lying greenery, eat heartily, then spend the hot tropical day in my den snoozing away...

What do you do on earth?
